Cheapin' it Uptown

I know many people have been in a Plato's Closet, or at least heard of it. If you have not, this is a store where you can take your gently used clothing and the store will buy from you what they think will sell. They take mostly name brand items or if something is extremely unique, non brand name. They give you cash on the spot for what they want to buy after they inspect each item closely. I like this store because even though most of the clothing is used (some things are brought in with tags still on them), it does not feel used--it just looks like TJ Maxx or Ross inside. For those who live in Augusta, Georgia, a competitor to the Plato's store has recently opened on Washington Road in Evans, GA called Uptown Cheapskate. I went into the store today to see what it was all about, and the store is big GIGANTIC. The Uptown Cheapskate could probably fit about three Plato's Closets inside it. The prices were about the same because Uptown seemed to abide by the same rules as Plato's: they sell the item in the store for 1/3 of the retail price and they give you 1/3 of their selling price. I felt more at ease in Uptown because it was cooler and not so cramped. Here is a link to their Facebook page: Uptown Cheapskate Evans, GA
The place smelled a little like smoke today. I wasn't sure if it was a person I passed or the clothing. Rating: 4 Stars

Enthusiastically,
